It's new to me, but my new vehicle is a 2015 Hyundai Sonata se.
After about 18 years driving my 1999 Ford Ranger I was forced to buy another vehicle. I say forced because my truck was on it's last legs and instead of plunking more money into it, I decided to use the money on a down payment. Why a used car? Well, that's simple. My credit, at the moment, is not good enough to buy a new car. At least that's was my conclusion. I didn't want to go in and embarrass myself trying to buy a new car and being turned down.
I had been planning to buy another ride for some time. Unfortunately, every time I thought about it, I would just put it off and put it off. I remember always telling myself that I would never get rid of my truck regardless of if I ever bought a new car or truck. I always would make promises of fixing up my Ranger to look like new. I vowed "I will never give up my truck." And here I am, without my truck and with another vehicle.
The last straw.
My mother sold her washer and dryer to some people from Aransas Pass. I drove to my mom's home town 45 miles from Corpus Christi and loaded the units on to my truck and drove to AP. I came back to my mother's house then drove back to Corpus. When I got back in to town, on the freeway, my truck stalled. I was shitting myself at that point. I was able to start the truck but it would drive for a few feet and stall again. I had no idea what to do, I was scared and afraid I wasn't going to make it home. I managed to keep starting the truck, get off the freeway and onto the access road. I had to continue starting the truck again and again until I was home. Thank God for my battery, it really saved me that day. That wasn't the first time that happened to me.
The same thing happened a few weeks earlier. You would think at that point I would learn my lesson. No, not me. True to form I kept driving my truck and hoping for the best. That's me for you. There had been other times my truck had issues: a long time ago it would stutter while driving, I had issues with it about a year after I bought it, my engine cooling system had issues, my front end needed work to were a mechanic told me one day "your wheels are going to fall off", but I kept driving it. I didn't want another bill, I needed tuition money. So I drove worried sick all the time.
So here I am. I love my new car. I'm enjoying all the amenities of a fairly new vehicle: a functioning radio, bluetooth, power windows, a fully working AC to name a few things. But, it was a hard transition. I cried my eyes out when I had to clean my truck out and to leave it behind knowing I would never see it again. I know to some people this is ridiculous, but I'm a very sentimental person. I get attached to things and it's very hard to let somethings go. Especially my truck which had been with me for 18 years.
I still miss it. Every day it gets better though. It's still a hard pill to swallow. So many emotions were going through me: sadness, fear, loneliness, uncertainty. I think one of the worst things was that I didn't have any one close to me to talk to and express my emotions. That was hard.
But, the time is now and as I said I'm still getting used to my new car. I'm a little apprehensive (that's just me, I'm a worrier) because it is a used car. I checked it out carefully, but you never know if this vehicle has unseen issues of it's own. So far so good.

Stop bumping me on the ass
Have you ever been in a situation where you're at a grocery store or a like and you're waiting in line at the register. And, as you're waiting for the person in front of you to finished paying for their items, some one behind you keeps bumping you on the ass with their cart.
That happened to me yesterday. OMG! I was so pissed off. What made it worse is that the person in front of me was taking a very long time to complete her purchase. Which is, by the way, another annoyance.
So, this idiot behind me bumped me once and I casually looked back, but he wasn't looking at me. His girl friend, or whatever, saw me but didn't say a word. The fool bumped me again. This time I looked back with an angry face and he apologized. I didn't say a word, but as I turned my head back to the front, I nodded in frustration.
I don't fucking understand how some people think. I don't fucking understand what goes through some people's head or what they're thinking. It's a fucking simple, fucking common sense thing to do! If there is a person in front of you at the check out line? Get the fuck back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You fucking know there is some one standing in front of you, give them some fucking space!!!!!!!!!! And, pay attention to what the fuck you're doing!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot to be thankful for. It's easy to forget
When we have been invited to a banquet, we take what is set before us: but if a guest should ask the host to set before him fish or sweet cakes, he would be considered to be an unreasonable fellow. But in the world we ask the Gods for what they do not give; and we do this though the things are many which they have given.

My New Chair
After a little over 20 years with the same office chair, I finally bought a brand new GT Racing gaming chair. No, I'm not a gamer, but I looked around, priced all kinds of chairs and watched review videos. I couldn't get over the fact that these gaming chairs look so cool as opposed to the mundane looking regular office chairs. So, I made my choice and here it is. YES!
I'm very exited and so far I'm enjoying my new chair. However, it remains in the test phase. Time will tell if this chair is going to survive the test of time.
My last chair was a great work horse. The only thing that was "wrong" with it was that the back started to bend back and the cushions on the seat were almost gone. I got through that by sitting on a throw pillow. I'm keeping my old chair around for guests and because I hate throwing away a (still) perfectly good chair - and because I'm emotionally attached to it. I know, I'm weird. You're right.

Royal wedding waste!
What in the hell is it with the interest in the "royal wedding!?" Who the hell is taking the time to tune-in to watch these people who have done nothing to gain fame and fortune. Who gives a shit?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, sorry for the strong language - and I am holding back.
To be fair, I don't know these people. I'm sure they're good and decent. And, I understand why the British would be interested, after all it is part of their history.
However, to an American like myself, kings, queens, princesses and princes are an anathema. Our forefathers fought to end the rule of that ridiculousness many many years ago. Thank God. These people are nobody to me. They're just ordinary human beings. That's why it irks me that they get all this attention. I can think of thousands of people who command much more focus than the "royals."
Needless to say I won't be watching this waste of time with great alacrity. It's irking me even to waste keystrokes and bytes writing this post. Arrg!!!

Cold cold, go away!
Many things piss me off in this life: people that litter, people who talk on their cell phone in a tight public place, drivers who don't use their single light to turn or change lanes and on and on.
But there is something in particular that I hate, maybe more than anything else. That is - COLD WEATHER! This year has been the absolute worst. Here we are in late April and I'm still seeing temperatures in the 60s and 70s. What the hell is going on!? I could be wrong about this but, I don't remember a time when it was this cold this late in the year, at least not here in my beloved South Texas. And it never seems to fail, the days that I'm off from work are the days that are colder and the days that I'm working are the warmest. That, of course, is a visceral observation.
But damn it already, I'm so tired of this cold. I know, I know, to most people 60 and 70 degree weather is far from cold. But, not in my book. If it's below 78 - I'm cold!!!!!!!!!
Alas, this has to end sometime. We're almost in May and I'm so hoping hotter weather is coming soon. When I see 90 degree and 100 degree forecasts I will jump for joy and sing Hallelujah.

Procession to Calvary by one
As I was on my way back home from my mother's home on Easter Sunday, I came across this person recreating Christ carrying the cross. I managed to snap a few pictures of him as I was driving, but this is the only one that was in decent focus. Many of us have heard the story of the Procession to Calvary time and time again. But, as I'm writing this post, I can't help feeling so very sad for our Lord and savior. How must it have been like to lug this heavy mass, trundling to your final destination knowing that soon you're going to be nailed to it and die.
Moving.
